Bruce Merlo
Independent Researcher, Author
David Bruce Merlo is an author, independent researcher, and entrepreneur based in Montreal.
Following a two decade career running an interior landscaping business, where he honed his
practical expertise in soil health and botanical resilience, Bruce pivoted to grassroots
environmental advocacy and open source Natural Net Emission Technologies.
A champion of decentralized, "syntropic" economies, he embraces Citizen Science alongside
networks like Sensorica and Plenty4All to develop minimum viable prototypes for open source
agricultural hardware, bringing biochar kilns and solar micro grids to the Global South. Locally,
he is a dedicated civic advocate serving on multi partner municipal boards to advance food
sovereignty, while fighting for viable urban infrastructure and participatory democracy.
In his concept books, The Planetary Ledger [upcoming] and Unlocking The Power of Nature [Amazon], Bruce bridges planetary physics and corporate finance. He rejects the greenwashing of modern climate policies, instead proposing "Planetary GAAP," a rigorous framework applying the laws of thermodynamics to Carbon Cycle Science. Bruce argues that civilizational survival demands abandoning energy heavy techno fixes. Instead, he advocates for aligning human industry with Earth’s natural regenerative cycles, utilizing tools like biochar, mineral based fertilizers, and enhanced weathering to turn entropic waste into ecological capital.
